Sea Life Academy Demo
This demo class gives you a first look at the collection of TAV content available through The Aquarium Vet's (TAV) partnership with Sea Life Academy. Built by practising aquatic veterinarians and industry specialists, the collection combines two things TAV has spent over a decade developing: a structured foundational curriculum (Aquarium School) and a deep archive of live, expert-led conference content covering elasmobranchs, reef systems, general aquarium medicine, and parasitology.
Included in this collection: Aquarium School (TAV's core online curriculum covering aquatic animal husbandry, health, and welfare, including the Aquatic Animal Welfare Module); five E-lasmo Conferences (2021–2024 plus the inaugural event); two E-Aquarium Conferences (2020 and 2021); E-Reef Conference (2020); and E-Workshop: Parasite ID (2020).

Aquarium School
The secret to successful fish keeping is Water Quality, Water Quality, Water Quality!! It is estimated that up to 90% of fish health issues and deaths are due to poor water quality. To be successful in caring for aquarium fish, it is important to be able to understand water quality and be able to talk the language that the hobbyists do.
E-Reef Conference 2020
E-Reef Conference 2020
The E-Reef Conference 2020 brought together coral enthusiasts and professionals from around the world for four days of live online presentations, discussions, and knowledge sharing. Designed for aquarium hobbyists, public aquarium and zoo aquarists, researchers, coral biologists, conservationists, and marine science professionals, the conference provided a unique opportunity to learn from some of the leading experts in coral reef science and husbandry.
Held online during the week commencing 19 October 2020, the conference featured more than four hours of live content each day, including expert presentations and interactive Q&A sessions. Topics covered a broad range of coral-related disciplines, including taxonomy, anatomy and physiology, water chemistry and life support systems, coral breeding and conservation, biosecurity, disease management, and reef aquarium design and maintenance.
Presenters included internationally recognised experts such as Julian Sprung discussing coral nutrition, David Lee from Seachem presenting on reef water chemistry, and Brendan Sullivan from Kessil covering lighting for reef aquariums, along with many other respected speakers from across the industry and scientific community.
Aquatic Animal Welfare
Welcome to The Aquarium Vet Aquatic Animal Welfare Module of the E-quarist course. To our existing students, we simply say enjoy. If you are new to the E-quarist course this module will give you a taste of the wonderful learning opportunity that awaits you if you wish to study other modules.
The module will take about three hours to complete, including a short examination. After passing the examination, you will be able to print a Certificate of Completion.
The Aquarium Vet hopes that you find this module helpful in improving the welfare of the animals in your care. We always appreciate any feedback or comments. In future we will include more Case Studies as to how these welfare principles are applied. Please feel free to submit any such Case Studies that we can include in future versions. This module represents a toolbox that using this information, a Curatorial / Husbandry team are capable of reviewing each individual display at their institution with a fresh set of eyes to advance the welfare of their aquatic animals.
